There is no need to worry about bacteria or duck odors as all feathers undergo thorough washing and sterilization before use. Typically, the feathers are steamed at high temperatures of around 145°C, washed with detergent, and then air-dried. This process eliminates and kills any potential viruses, ensuring that your cushions won't have a trace of duck odor.

Secondly, it is essential to understand the downsides of down as a filling material. If a down-filled sofa gets wet, the feathers will not dry properly, necessitating the use of waterproof covers to prevent seepage. To address this issue, baffles or pockets can be used to sew the down into the upholstery.
